SUPRABHA RAORANE

The instant series is an attempt to portray my feelings while observing from my home the mountains that are being shredded and broken down for the construction and concretization demands of the city.

I have been visualizing the possibility of mountains of different colors, apart from their most common natural appearance in grey.

What if humankind had the choice to not disturb Nature ?!

How will it feel if the air change from a choking mixture of gases and pollutants to a cool, warm & soothing breeze ??..

How will the diversity express itself to its fullest charm in pristine pure nature??..

Experiencing the transition of mountains and wilderness from being mighty & variegated to now shredded & denuded into tiny pieces & scarcity made me inquisitive, on one hand, about the fragile sense of being and on the other, to appreciate the very existence of everything when I compare ‘what is there’ with ‘what is gone’.

I started to wonder about what could be and what should be.

The process made me visualize rocks in different forms and different colors.

Witnessing the artificial process of slowly shredding down the mighty mountains with immense biodiversity to make way for the shiny concrete and glass buildings for the most powerful and single most  species of sapiens has given me a reason to keep the purity and might of the mountains alive in my art.
